King's 24-7 Prayer: Travelling Well

So, the day has arrived, preparations have been made, a suitably gluttinous Shrove Tuesday has passed, and Lent has begun.

Ashes will be imposed at several services around college today: at 1310 at both the Strand and at Guy's, and again at 1730 at Guy's.

After the service at the Strand, we'll be spending the afternoon transforming the chapel into our prayer base for the week. A labyrinth will be constructed, prayer stations erected, and our watch of prayer will begin.

It's never too late to sign up for a particular prayer slot, just email chaplaincy@kcl.ac.uk to tell us the slot you're after.

T minus 5 days, and counting

Well, it's getting close now, with just a few days until our week of prayer kicks off on Ash Wednesday at the Strand.

As we get closer, more details are being planned out.
Just today, we've put up which films we'll be showing each evening:

Wed - The Count of Monte Cristo
Thur - Dorian Gray
Fri - The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe
Sat - The Mission
Sun - The Shawshank Redemption
Mon - Amazing Grace
Tue - A Man For All Seasons

After each film, we'll have the chance to chat about what we made of it, before saying the midnight service together.

Ben has produced booklets of all our Office services (the regular services we say each day), which you can pick up and follow even if you can't make it in to be there with us.

We've also decided that over the course of the first few days & nights, we'll make our own Stations of the Cross, which we will then use in the later part of the week when we follow the Way of the Cross.

Don't forget that if you want to sign up for a particular slot, email chaplaincy@kcl.ac.uk & let us know. Of course, you can just turn up at any time without signing up, so no pressure!

Our chief publicist & designer, Rowan, has produced an ace logo for this year's prayer week.

Notice the similarity to a plane in the shape of the bird, picking up the theme of travelling, while still recognisable as a bird, possibly the bird used to represent both peace and the Holy Spirit, a dove?
